The State of Texas requires that you meet the following jurisdictional requirements
before you are eligible to file a petition for divorce:

1. You must have been domiciled in the State of Texas for six (6) months before
the divorce is filed; AND

2.  You must be a resident in the County in which the divorce is filed for ninety
(90) days before the divorce is filed.

GROUNDS FOR  DIVORCE

In Texas there are several grounds (reasons) which allows you to file a divorce against
your spouse. The most common ground is insupportability , which generally means that
the parties are no longer able to continue their marriage relationship because they
cannot live together because of irreconcilable differences.

The grounds for divorce are:

1. Insupportability.
2. Cruelty,
3. Adultery.
4. Conviction of felony.
5. Abandonment.
6. Living Apart.
7. Confinement in Mental Hospital
